GIC of Charlotte, Inc. provides services to Individuals with Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities as well as Home Care Services to individuals with disabilities or medical conditions needing assistance.Our agency’s goal is to ensure that your needs or you loved one's needs are addressed.
Founded in 2000 by Dr. Adiaha Strange, GIC of Charlotte focuses on planning services around each individual. From the beginning, Dr. Strange recognized the need to provide services that reach out to every dimension of the disabled population.
All staff members are carefully selected to provide our members with responsive, well trained, and compassionate care.
History
The story of GIC was started in 1998 when Dr. Strange became a Special Education Teacher for St. Marks Lifespan @ Grainger High School. Though the ultimate responsibility for providing transition services rests with the school district, when her students turned 21 and it was time for them to exit high school, she was faced with the realization that they had few options. Due to their severe and profound disabilities they could not attend college, and they lacked the independence to get a job, so what happens next?
After continued prayer, research and networking – GIC of Charlotte, Inc. was established in the year 2000 with the goal of providing transition services to students and adults with disabilities.
